What is the difference between an interlaced and non-interlaced mode?

Interlaced is a technology used in a standard television display. The electron gun will draw the odd numbered lines from the top to the bottom of the screen, then will come back to the top and draw in the even numbered lines. Flickering occurs because the non-refreshed lines fade before they are redrawn. In the non-interlaced mode, the screen is drawn from top to bottom, line by line, which produces less flicker and less eye strain for the end-user.

Why the monitor cannot adjust to anything higher than a 640x480 resolution setting?

Make sure that the video card and monitor driver is installed. Please reference downloading the driver information. Please contact the video card vendor for further help on configuring your video card. And as for the monitor, be sure you have downloaded the driver from the website.

What is “Resolution”?

Under monitor and video card, this term commonly refers to a display format such as 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 etc….Resolution of 800 by 600 means 800 pixels on 600 lines.

Why would I prefer FlatFace monitor to a regular CRT monitor?

FlatFace monitors have less glare, since the flat surface displays less angles. With less angles there is less reflection, producing brighter & more accurate images.

What does “Dot Pitch” refer to?

The image that we see on the monitor is made up of dots or pixels. These are arranged in triads of Red, Green and Blue dots. Dot pitch is the distance between dots of the same color and it is measured in millimeters. The lower the Dot Pitch the sharper the image.

Why is the Plug & Play function of my monitor not working?

In order for the Plug & Play feature of the monitor to work, you need a Plug & Play compatible computer & video card. Check with your computer manufacturer. Also check the monitor's video cable and make sure none of the pins are bent.

The power light of my monitor is on and the color is amber, but there is no video or display. What is the cause of this?

Your computer may be in screen saver mode, it has instructed the monitor to go to power saving mode, or the the monitor's video cable is not properly connected to the computer. Another possible cause of this is a locked-up or in-operative computer since the computer is what supplies the monitor with all the display data or information. Move the mouse or press a key to de-activate the screen saver or power saving mode. Check the monitor's video cable and make sure it is snugly connected to the computer. To see if the computer is operating properly, press the CAPS LOCK key on the keyboard repeatedly while checking the CAPS LOCK light. If the light is not turning ON & OFF, the computer is non-functional. Contact your computer manufacturer for help.

If none of these suggestions help, please visit our website for RMA information.

I have color spots on the corner of my screen. Is this normal?

No. You should have good color continuity across the entire screen area. Most likely, the color spots are caused by magnetic interference. The first thing to try is degaussing your monitor using your On Screen Display (OSD). NOTE: If your unit does not a manual degauss feature, simply turn it off for 10 minutes, then power it back on again.

If degaussing does not help, or if the spots come back after a little while, try rearranging the equipment near your monitor. Devices with magnetic properties (e.g. speakers and transformers) can affect the purity of your monitor. Visit our website for RMA information.

My unit has a pincushion effect and the On Screen Display (OSD) doesn’t seem to make a difference.

You will need to send your monitor in for repair. Visit our website for RMA information.

My display is missing one of the primary colors or it is showing tint color (pink, green, blue).

Check the pin connector of your monitor video cable, verify that there are no damaged or bent pins, if everything looks fine; then this would indicate a failure inside the monitor.

Note: It’s normal to have only 14 pins on connectors, pin number 9 will have no connections therefore it is naturally missing.

Why does the display on my monitor appear to flicker, bounce or wave?

The primary cause of these problems are low refresh rate (<75Hz) or interference caused by other electrical device. To solve the refresh rate problem, use the maximum refresh rate indicated on the monitor documentation for the particular resolution you are using. And to solve the interference problem, move suspected devices as far away from the monitor as possible. Common interference sources are: fluorescent lamp, un-shielded speakers, Un-Interruptible Power Supply (UPS) & transformers like those used by scanners & some printers.

Why is the display of my monitor fuzzy and it has ghosting & shadowing problem?

These problems are caused by using an extension video cable or switch box. You need to plug the monitor's video cable directly to the video card connector on the back of your computer to obtain the best picture quality from the monitor. Also make sure that all the pins of the monitor's video cable are in good condition.

Is there anyway I can adjust the blurriness on my screen?

Unfortunately our monitor doesn’t have any external control to adjust the focus of the monitor. Try to change to a different resolution or refresh rate or try adjusting the brightness or contrast, if this doesn’t help, this indicates an internal problem with the monitor. Contact our RMA Department to process the warranty on the monitor. Visit the Services & Support section of our website.

Monitor power light indicator changes from green to orange and there is nothing on the display.

Check to see that the computer is not on power-saving mode by pressing any key or moving the mouse. Then if there is still no display, this typically indicates that the monitor is not receiving a video signal from the video card in your computer. You should verify this by trying the monitor on a different working system, when you plug the monitor into the computer you should get a display…if the monitor still doesn’t show an image on the different system, this indicates an internal problem with the monitor. Contact our RMA Department to process the warranty on the monitor. Visit the Services & Support section of our website.

Monitor power-light indicator flashes from green to orange constantly and there is nothing on the display.

What does Error Code 7 or Calibration Error mean?

This means an internal failure of hardware has occurred inside the scanner. Most of the time, it’s the Optical Assembly that has failed or went defective which causes this problem. Please contact our RMA Dept. for warranty information

I get “Transparency Calibration Error”.
